About The Conference
In recent decades, the aspect of good governance has become a global discourse that is beginning to attract the attention of various fields-financial management, political-state administration, academia, and so on.
Good governance is an important domain in identifying the criterions of integrity within a person, an organization, enterprise or even a country.
Crisis of values that is currently plundering humanity during this digital age demands the strengthening of human values according to nature, however, discourse in regards to values and their application seems too abstract, thus requiring humans to mix attempts to apply values in the form of guidelines, indices, rules, laws, operating procedures, etc.- which serves as regulatory instruments.
Global pressures and demands to apply “control instruments” for the purpose of “value intervention” in human interaction, especially in the field of economy, has normalised this new trend - mandating operating procedures and guidelines, rules and assessment indices. The question is, how trustworthy are all of these?
Hence, Noor Malaysia aspires to be able to be a part of the implementation of good governance based on universal values and applied them in segments of the community, globally.
In this awareness, the NOOR Conference with the theme “Good Governance: Quest for the Future” is an initial initiative especially among the younger generation in discussing this theme seriously and will be followed by further action in the form of discourse, intervention, research, study and preparation of policy papers and blueprints.
NOOR was co-inspired by a group of young Muslims who believe in the inspiration of Islam in being the world’s solution, especially in an effort to overhaul the crisis of values that undermines the mechanisms of order and governance in developing societies. True to its name, ‘NOOR’ (Ar. Light), the project aims to find a solution while reflecting its light to amplify the benefits to society.
